In Vitro Fertilization. It is a type of assisted reproductive technology (ART) used to help people who have difficulty conceiving a child naturally. IVF involves combining eggs and sperm outside the body in a laboratory dish to create embryos. Once the embryos have formed, one or more of them are transferred into the uterus with the goal of achieving a successful pregnancy.
