Course Description
This course is a compulsory course for all year 1 students. It introduces five basic IT topics, which are introduction to modern information technologies, basic skills and applications of IT, information literacy, information security and ethics in IT and relevant Hong Kong legislations.
Assessment
5% In-class participation - attend at least 6 out of 10 lectures and 2 out of 3 tutorials to obtain full mark for this part

5% Out-class participation - viewing, rating and commenting on group presentations of classmates

25% Assignment 1 (Spreadsheet application) - follow instructions and formulae provided in the lecture notes to complete an excel document

25% Assignment 2 (Information literacy and security exercise) - 20 online multiple choice quiz, no time limit, maximum 3 attempts and the highest mark is counted towards the final grade (can seek help from IT clinic if you want more than 3 attempts)

40% Group Project - take a video of around 6-8 minutes (+/- 1 minute) about any IT-related issue (Forming group and submitting topic and description 5%, Video recording and uploading for share 30%, Peer assessment 5%)
