Course Description
Marketing management is the science and art of decision making on the market. This course carries three goals. In the first part of the course, I will teach you the theoretical fundamentals of marketing principles and philosophies and prepare you with data-driven techniques in marketing analyses (on consumer, company, and competitor). In other words, the first part of the course will empower you with knowledge. In the second part of the course, I will share with you marketing tactics (for product, price, promotion, and place) and decision analytical tools, teach you how to use these tactics and tools to reach optimal solutions, and guide you to discover errors in making marketing decisions. Many topics we will cover are based on the Nobel Prize-winning decision-making research. In other words, the second part of the course will enlighten you with wisdom. Lastly, throughout the course, I will train you to do critical thinking, conduct logical analyses, and generate creative solutions. I hope at the end of the course, you will have a comprehensive understanding of marketing.
Assessment
Total: 155: 35 Group Project (proposal, presentation and Q&A session), 40 Mid-term (included weekly readings, self-introduction video), 55 Final, 25 Class Participation. Bonus points can be earned by participating in marketing research and in-class activities.
